Several posts back, we discussed our excitement regarding the addition of an ambulance to our health center in rural Guatemala. This past week our brand new ambulance arrived on-site!
Over the last year or so, our ambulance had a fairly long journey from South Korea to Guatemala. Then, successfully navigated the obligatory customs red tape to enter Guatemala. Eventually, made it to us. Finally, it spent the last few weeks it Guatemala City being converted from a passenger van into an ambulance.
As referenced in the previous post, the addition of ambulance services will increase access to healthcare- both at our center and at referral centers. We are delighted to have it on-site and look forward to incorporating it into the care of our patients immediately and for years to come.
